Will County Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at New Renewable Natural Gas Plant

Plant is second of its kind in Illinois and first in Chicagoland

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant joined Will County Board Speaker Mimi Cowan and members at a ribbon cutting on Friday to celebrate the county’s new Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Plant in Wilmington. The plant will capture and repurpose methane gas emitted from the county-owned Prairie View Landfill, providing a significant source of non-tax revenue for Will County and a carbon-neutral alternative to conventional natural gas.

The workshop, on Thursday, September 29th from 1PM – 2PM, is being hosted in coordination with the Will County Center for Economic Development (CED) and the State of Illinois Commission on Equity and Inclusion.

Will County Opens Application Period for ARPA Health Program Funding

The County has dedicated over $22 million of ARPA funding for community groups, healthcare partners, and non-profit organizations to address adverse impacts created or deepened by the pandemic.

Launches “Access Will County” to examine transportation options

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant today announced the opening of the public engagement period for Access Will County, which will evaluate county-wide paratransit and dial-a-ride services and mobility options. Residents are invited to take a survey if they use paratransit or dial-a-ride services, or if they are interested in using a similar service in the future. The survey will be open until October 5, 2022.
