Will County and Lewis University Partner to Host Annual “Pumpkin Catapult” Event on Nov. 2

The Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division and Lewis University are partnering to hold their annual “Pumpkin Catapult” event from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 2. The event will take place in the parking lot just south of the main entrance to Lewis University, 1 University Parkway, Romeoville.

Will County Pursuing Expanded Space for Veterans Services

New center will be at the heart of a Joliet-based Veteran Support Campus

Will County leaders and the Will County Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) have announced a collaboration to create a unified Veteran Assistance and Support Center in Joliet. The center will occupy an existing county building at 1300 Copperfield Avenue and would be at the heart of a centralized campus for Will County veterans. 

Will County Launches Planning Process for Housing and Community Development

The Will County Community Development Division is launching the process to update the county’s Consolidated Plan for 2025-2029, which provides direction on housing and community development projects over the next five years. The plan guides the allocation of federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding.

Will County Recognizes Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Awareness Day

In honor of Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) Awareness Day, the Will County Courthouse will be illuminated in the colors of green, teal, and pink on Sunday, October 13. Will County is partnering with LightUpMBC and METAvivor to raise awareness of MBC, also known as Stage 4, where the cancer has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body.

FEMA Opens Technical Assistance Center in Joliet to Support Residents Filing Relief Applications

In coordination with the Will County Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Joliet to provide technical assistance to residents applying for federal assistance from damage sustained during the July 13-16 severe weather.

FEMA Teams Going Door-to-Door in Will County to Encourage Relief Applications

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that they will be deploying door-to-door teams to support residents impacted by the July 13-16, 2024 severe weather that impacted Will County. FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will be visiting residential and business properties countywide, with a priority on Elwood, Joliet, Manhattan, and Shorewood.
