Local Residents Invited to Participate in DuPage River Watershed Study

     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District has begun a study of the potential effects associated with flooding within the DuPage River watershed. The DuPage River watershed is located primarily within DuPage and Will Counties, Illinois. The Army Corps is hosting several public meetings for residents to learn more about the study and offer their input.                                                                                                                   

     

Will County 911 accepts text messages

For anyone who needs help immediately, but can’t talk to a 911 dispatcher, there’s a new option starting Thursday, October 15, 2015 in Will County.  “9-1-1: Call if you can, Text if you can’t”, is the new message being announced as the Will County 9-1-1 System introduces Text-to 9-1-1 Service, said Caryn DeMarco, Will County 9-1-1 Public Education Manager. DeMarco stated, “Voice Calls to 9-1-1 are still the best and fastest way to contact 9-1-1.”

Will County Land Use Department to host Energy Summit for Local Schools

The Will County Land Use Department, will be hosting an Energy Summit for schools personnel in Will County from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at William E. Young School in Homer Glen. The event is specifically designed for teachers, maintenance staff, administrators and school board members. Local experts will be sharing tips and information about energy efficiency.

Mobile Workforce Center’s October schedule announced

The Mobile Workforce Center’s October schedule has been announced by the Workforce Services Division of Will County.

The mobile unit travels throughout Will County to help residents with resume development, cover letters and job applications. The workforce center contains 11 computer stations, internet access, and offers keyboarding lessons, as well as resume and job search assistance using online listings including jobs4people.org and Illinois workNet.

Will County Executive Walsh presents FY 2016 annual budget

Plans include maintaining sound fiscal policies; updating county facilities

     At today’s Will County Board meeting, County Executive Larry Walsh presented his budget proposal for the 2016 fiscal year. The budget plan totals $482 million and includes a corporate fund of $194 million and special funds of $288 million.

     “This year’s budget is balanced and reflects Will County’s strong financial base,” Walsh said. “The budget I am recommending outlines the next steps we must take to keep our county moving forward on a sound fiscal path.”
