Will County Land Use Department

Personnel of the Will County Land Use Department are charged by the County Executive and the County Board to serve as the citizens' land use stewards, providing guidance and assistance for the lifecycle development of the built and natural environments within unincorporated and, in some instances, incorporated portions of the County. The individual and collective efforts of Land Use team members accomplish this charge through efficient and effective planning, regulatory and procedural systems that are applied in a transparent, consistent, equitable and courteous manner.

The department consists of four divisions: Administration and Enforcement, Community Development, Development Services, Resource Recovery & Energy (RR&E)

SmartGov Public Portal

The Will County Land Use Department maintains a cloud-based permitting system.  Through this online system, contractors and applicants apply for permits, submit documents, schedule inspections, pay fees, print their permit, and view detailed information regarding their permits.  To access the Will County Land Use Department SmartGov Public Portal, please click on the link below.

Will County to Host "Day at Will County Government"

Will County residents are invited to attend a "Day at Will County Government in recognition of National County Government Month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, April 24. 

This open house-style event offers the public an opportunity  to connect directly with county officials and staff and learn more about the services and resources available in the community. Over 20 Will County offices, including both elected offices and county departments, will be in attendace to share information about services and programs available to Will County residents.
