As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

FEMA Opens Technical Assistance Center in Joliet to Support Residents Filing Relief Applications

In coordination with the Will County Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened a Disaster Recovery Center in Joliet to provide technical assistance to residents applying for federal assistance from damage sustained during the July 13-16 severe weather.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced that they will be deploying door-to-door teams to support residents impacted by the July 13-16, 2024 severe weather that impacted Will County. FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will be visiting residential and business properties countywide, with a priority on Elwood, Joliet, Manhattan, and Shorewood.

President Biden approves disaster declaration; Funding available to affected individuals in Will County

President Joseph R. Biden has signed a federal Major Disaster Declaration authorizing the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Individual Assistance program for areas impacted by the severe weather and flooding on July 13-16, which includes Will County. Community members can now apply for FEMA’s Individual Assistance program, which could include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners to recover from the effects of the severe weather experienced between July 13 and July 16.
