The Workforce Center of Will County June schedule has been released.

An orientation into Alison.com will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4. Alison offers more than 1,000 free online courses in more than 300 categories. Orientation includes an overview of the courses and categories and information on how to set up an Alison account.

Will County’s annual three-day book recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 31-June 2 at Joliet Park District’s Pilcher Park Nature Center, 2501 Highland Park Drive.

Will County took in a record shattering12,298 pounds of textiles during its annual week-long collection event which ended May 3.

During the ninth annual Hero Helps Summit, held Friday, May 3 at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center, local experts shared important information about medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and sober living homes, both key components of long term success in opiate use recovery.

During this year’s Hero Helps Community Summit on Friday, May 3, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker will be present to discuss his plans to address the opioid epidemic including strategies to leverage federal funding opportunities to fight this epidemic locally.

The Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division, along with Joliet Franciscan Sisters and University of St. Francis, will host a free document destruction event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 18.

Will County’s annual textile collection event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, to Friday, May 3, at the County Office Building, 304 N. Chicago St.

The Workforce Center of Will County will host a job fair from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25 at its office, 2400 Glenwood Avenue in Joliet.

On Wednesday, April 17, Congressman Bill Foster met with Will County Executive Larry Walsh, County Board Speaker Denise Winfrey, other county board leadership, and members of the County Executive staff for a discussion about Will County's federal agenda. Recently, county board leadership and Walsh's Chief of Staff Nick Palmer visited federal legislators in Washington D.C. to present the county's 2019-2020 federal agenda which included requests for funding on infrastructure and other county programs.
