Annual book collection event at Pilcher Park rescheduled

JOLIET – The annual book collection event sponsored by the Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division and the Joliet Park District each June has been rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tim Anderson, who coordinates the event for RRE, said the event has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18-20, at the Pilcher Park Nature Center, 2501 Highland Park Drive.

Anderson said that all schools and libraries will be able to bring gently worn books prior the opening of the event. Individuals may drop off and/or take books at no cost. Books that remain at the end of the three-day event are recycled, keeping them out of a landfill.

For more information, call Anderson at (815) 774-7897 or email him at tanderson@willcountylanduse.com.
