Entrance/Exits to Will County Courthouse Parking Lot to Change Beginning March 23

In preparation for the opening of the new Will County Courthouse scheduled for later this year, and to accommodate construction on the reopening of Chicago Street, access to the parking lot on the East side of the building will be reconfigured. The entrance/exit from Washington Street will be closed beginning March 23. An entrance and exit will remain open on Jefferson Street and an exit only will be open onto Washington Street.

“This is an exciting time as we near completion of our new state of the art courthouse,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “While there may be some initial confusion and inconvenience, the end product will be a dramatic improvement to the downtown traffic flow.”

In mid-May, the entire East parking lot will be closed. Visitors to the courthouse will be redirected to use parking structures on Ottawa and Scott Streets or the commuter parking lot South of the railroad tracks.

Upon completion of the project in mid-October, Chicago Street will be reopened between Washington and Jefferson Streets and an improved lot will be on the site of the current parking lot.
