Rising boxing star, Joseph Awinongya Jr., 14, was honored by Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant for his numerous accomplishments in the world of boxing.

Under the tutelage of his father, Joseph Awinongya Sr., he has won the Silver Gloves Championship three times, the St. Louis National Championship twice, the Junior Olympic National Championship twice, the Wisconsin National Championship twice, as well as the United States National Championship as well as numerous other titles. His strong ties to his father’s homeland of Ghana also inspired Awinongya Jr. to donate $500 to the help fund the care of children in Ghana living with HIV.

Awinongya Jr. is a great role model for young people and boxing enthusiasts in Will County.
