Plainfield Native joins Will County Executive Staff Dave Tkac named Deputy Chief of Staff
JOLIET- A local man has been tapped to join Will County Executive Larry Walsh’s staff.
Dave Tkac, 54 of Plainfield, was hired as deputy chief of staff, a position previously held by the current Chief of Staff Nick Palmer.
“I am pleased to welcome Dave to our staff,” Walsh said. “He comes to us with a wealth of experience in both the private and public sectors. His knowledge and leadership skills will be a definite addition to my office.”
Tkac began his duties on Sept. 27 following the approval from the County Board at its Sept.
18th meeting.
Most recently, Tkac worked as a senior management associate for a Fortune 500 design engineering firm. Prior to that, he worked for nearly four years as a regional manager for the capital development board of the State of Illinois. In this role, he was responsible for managing all non-road, state projects.
Tkac also spent time with the City of Chicago as a contracts administrator in the Mayor’s Office under Richard M. Daley. His duties included managing special projects and urban redevelopment.
Palmer said Tkac experience in the public sector will be a definite asset in the role of assistant chief of staff.
“Dave understands the climate of the public sector and how to manage capital projects within specific parameters,” said Palmer. “This is a very exciting time for Will County. We have many important projects in the near and not too distant future. Dave’s experience has allowed him to hit the ground running.”
According to Palmer, Tkac will focus on capital improvement and economic development duties.
Tkac said, “I have a vested interest in the future of Will County. I grew up here and I am raising my family here. I want to be an integral part of the County Executive’s team leading Will County into the future.”
Tkac resides in Plainfield with his wife, and four children.
