Will County Executive Larry Walsh Adds Additional Romeoville-area Transportation Open House -- Mon. June 8

     The Will County Division of Transportation has added an additional meeting to the spring open house schedule so that residents in the Romeoville, Bolingbrook and northern Will County area have an opportunity to learn more and help shape the development of the County’s 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan.  The additional open house will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Mon., June 8 at the Romeoville Village Hall, 1050 West Romeo Road, Romeoville.

     This will be the fifth public meeting that is being held related to the Long Range Transportation Plan known as “Will Connects 2040”. The open houses provide an opportunity to collect input during this phase of the planning process from residents, business owners, and others including transit users, freight operators, bicyclists, or members of the general public. Earlier open houses were held in late April and May in Joliet, Wilmington, New Lenox and University Park, drawing more than a hundred people from throughout Will County.

     “We’re adding another open house meeting date to the schedule to ensure all Will County residents and business owners have an opportunity to share their thoughts for an improved transportation system that will benefit Will County into the future“, said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “It’s important that we hear from County residents during this phase of the project so all viewpoints can be considered as we develop the plan.  Will Connects 2040 will serve as our transportation roadmap to guide investments for the future of Will County—together, we can ensure Will County remains a great place to live, work, and do business.”

     Launched in January, “Will Connects 2040” considers all forms of transportation, including roads, transit (bus and commuter rail), bicycle and pedestrian, aviation, intermodal networks, and freight (truck, rail, and waterborne). The Will Connects 2040 planning process provides an opportunity for the County to evaluate the current transportation system and future transportation needs and challenges - and will lead to the identification of priority improvements that will not only support increased population and business growth, but maintain and improve quality of life.

The additional open house will be held:

• 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., Mon., June 8 at the Romeoville Village Hall, 1050 West Romeo Road, Romeoville, IL 60446.
