Will County Launches Planning Process for Housing and Community Development

The Will County Community Development Division is launching the process to update the county’s Consolidated Plan for 2025-2029, which provides direction on housing and community development projects over the next five years. The plan guides the allocation of federal funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding.

The plan provides strategic guidance on how to address the community development, affordable housing, and homeless needs within Will County. The overall goal of the plan and its associated programs is to meet the needs of low- and moderate-income residents in the community.

The strategic plan focuses on the following goals, specifically in divested areas:

  • Providing decent, affordable housing
  • Creating suitable living environments
  • Expanding economic opportunities.

Residents in Will County are strongly encouraged to actively participate in this plan by attending community forums and providing feedback online. Engagement opportunities include:

Community Forums: Join the project team at any of the four locations throughout the county to learn more about the plan and share your input. Please complete the event registration form on the project website in advance to ensure accessibility needs are accommodated.
