Will County Land Use Department

Personnel of the Will County Land Use Department are charged by the County Executive and the County Board to serve as the citizens' land use stewards, providing guidance and assistance for the lifecycle development of the built and natural environments within unincorporated and, in some instances, incorporated portions of the County. The individual and collective efforts of Land Use team members accomplish this charge through efficient and effective planning, regulatory and procedural systems that are applied in a transparent, consistent, equitable and courteous manner.

The department consists of four divisions: Administration and Enforcement, Community Development, Development Services, Resource Recovery & Energy (RR&E)

Will County Awards Over $129,000 in School Safety Grants

Grants support enhanced school safety strategies for 33 Will County schools

Will County has awarded more than $129,000 in grants aimed at strengthening school safety. The Will County School Safety Grant, which has been awarded to 33 middle and K-8 schools, will support the installation of main entrance reinforcements and improved visitor and attendance management systems.

New Alert System Launched for Emergency Notifications and Community Updates Across Will County

Residents encouraged to register for enhanced emergency notifications, community alerts, and safety profiles for first responders

Will County Animal Protection Services (APS) and Chicagoland Speedway are partnering to celebrate both the return of NASCAR to Joliet on July 3-5 and America’s 250th birthday with a special “Every Pet Deserves a Victory Lap” adoption campaign, that includes waived adoption fees, free pet microchipping, and a special adoption event.
