Joliet IKEA Warehouse Boasts Largest Solar Rooftop in Illinois

IKEA is installing a massive 2.9MW solar array atop its new Joliet warehouse: the largest rooftop solar array in the state of Illinois to date. A whopping 9,000 modules will produce an estimated 3.4 million kilowatt-hours of energy per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2,400 tons annually!

The project began in April of 2017 and is expected to tie-up in late fall of this year. Continental Electrical Construction Company (CECCO) has been selected to install the array after completing two arrays atop IKEA retail stores in Bolingbrook and Schaumburg totaling 1.75MW.

The December 2016 Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA) calls for over 1,350MW of installed solar by the end of 2020; IKEA and CECCO are contributing to this goal in a very big way, right here in Will County.
