Will County Land Use Department

Personnel of the Will County Land Use Department are charged by the County Executive and the County Board to serve as the citizens' land use stewards, providing guidance and assistance for the lifecycle development of the built and natural environments within unincorporated and, in some instances, incorporated portions of the County. The individual and collective efforts of Land Use team members accomplish this charge through efficient and effective planning, regulatory and procedural systems that are applied in a transparent, consistent, equitable and courteous manner.

The department consists of four divisions: Administration and Enforcement, Community Development, Development Services, Resource Recovery & Energy (RR&E)

Will County "Recyclepalooza" Returns in Time for Spring Cleaning

“Recyclepalooza” is kicking off Will County’s 2025 recycling event season, offering a free recycling and collection event in Joliet for electronics, household hazardous waste, metal, wood, clothing, books, toys, and more on Saturday, March 29.

The drive-up event, hosted by the Will County Resource Recovery and Energy Division, takes place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. It is open to people living in communities that are fully or partially in Will County. There is a limit of two TVs and 15 gallons of paint per vehicle.

The event is available by appointment-only to help regulate traffic and reduce wait-times. More information on the exact location and how to pack vehicles for quick and easy unloading during the event will be emailed upon making an appointment.
