Will-Ride / Dial-a-Ride Service

What is Will-Ride?

Will-Ride is a Dial-A-Ride service that coordinates the collaborative efforts of Will County Townships to provide transportation service to residents who do not have access to standard public transportation service.

What services are available?

We will transport eligible Will County residents to and from work, grocery stores, local shopping centers, nursing homes, Village Hall, restaurants hair appointments, medical appointments, to visit a friend or relative, and to any Township or Village sponsored event (services may vary by Township).

Who is Eligible for the Program?

Residents who live within Will County are eligible for services if their township/sponsor is participating and if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Senior Citizens (60 years of age and older)
  • Residents with a disability
  • Needing transportation to work

How do I become eligible for Will-Ride services?

In order to become eligible for the program, you must sign up with your Township/Sponsor.

What is the cost?

Suggested donations for rides within your Township: $2 one-way or $4 round-trip.
Suggested donations for rides outside your Township: $4 one-way or $8 round-trip.

Will-Ride Service Area

Will-Ride services anywhere within the borders of the 7 townships of Will County.  In addition, service is provided to any location within a 10 mile radius of the borders of the 7 townships of Will County shown on the map below:

Buses Operate: Monday - Friday  8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Weekend and Holiday hours are not available.)

Call Center Hours for Scheduling a Ride:  
Monday - Friday 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. / Phone: (800) 244-4410 (Please call at least 48 hours in advance).

Will-Ride Important Information

Arranging your ride:
Contact the call center at least 48 hours in advance with the following information:

  • Home address.
  • Address of destination.
  • The time of your appointment.
  • Approximate time for return pickup.
  • Alert the Call Center to any special mobility needs you may have, i.e. wheelchair assistance, help from your front door, etc.
  • Let the Call Center know if you will have a caretaker with you. (Caretakers ride at no charge.)

 


How to prepare for your ride:

  • Pack an adequate supply of medicine, oxygen, insulin, inhalers, etc. just in case an unexpected occurrence  arises.
  • Be ready a few minutes early to allow time for assistance to the bus.
  • Plan ahead! Limit your packages.

Note: Only two packages (not including your purse) can be carried onto the bus.


Boarding the Bus

  • All vehicles are equipped with lifts and are wheelchair accessible.
  • If you have special mobility needs, drivers may assist you from your door onto the bus.
  • Always WAIT for the bus to come to a COMPLETE STOP before approaching.

Safety First

  • Buckle Up! It's the LAW!
  • Stay seated while the bus is in motion!
  • No eating, drinking or smoking is allowed on the bus.

Note: Will-Ride bus drivers are happy to serve you.  However they are NOT ALLOWED to enter your home or accept tips.
