Will County receives Excellence in Financial Reporting award

JOLIET – For the 12th consecutive time, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has recognized Will County with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR). This certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

“I am proud of our finance director Karen Hennessy and the entire finance department staff for achieving this prestigious award,” said Larry Walsh, Will County Executive. “Karen and her staff do an outstanding job preparing our county’s financial statements.”

The GFOA established this CAFR award in 1945 to recognize state and local governments that excel in the principles of comprehensive financial reporting and transparency. The committee selects governmental entities that demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate its financial story with the public.
