In a special meeting today of the Will County Board, Denise Winfrey (D-Joliet) was sworn in as interim County Executive. Winfrey succeeds Lawrence M. Walsh, who died on June 3, 2020. Winfrey is the first woman and the first minority to serve as Will County Executive.

Lawrence M. “Larry” Walsh, a loving husband, proud father and grandfather, faithful farmer, dedicated public servant, and lifelong Will County resident, died Wednesday night at his home in Elwood, Illinois. He was 72.
