     Will County accepted $750,000 in funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation today to support a comprehensive freight study that will help guide future planning and decision making regarding the continued growth of the freight industry in Will County.

Will County Animal Control has entered into three-year agreements with 11 municipalities that both benefit the communities and cover the county’s costs while caring for lost or abandoned animals.

Will County received a five year grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS). DHS is the recipient of a federal grant from SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) to reduce the number of prescription drug/opioid overdose-related deaths.

     Will County residents who have their pets spayed or neutered at participating veterinary offices in February can receive a $40 county-sponsored discount

     The Will County Executive’s Office is pleased to announce the launch of the Will County Safe Passage Initiative, another critical strategy to reduce the number of heroin deaths in the county. The Mokena Police Department, the Lockport Police Department, the Lemont Police Department, A Man in Recovery Foundation, and Strategic Prevention are working together to establish the Safe Passage Initiative that will connect opiate users with treatment providers.
