To offer residents and local business owners an opportunity to voice ideas about community investment, Will County is partnering with the City of Joliet and local organizations to host R3 (Restore, Reinvest, and Renew) neighborhood resident meetings. These meetings will focus on solutions regarding the five pillars of civil legal aid, economic development, re-entry, violence prevention, and youth development.

Local Officials Celebrate Houbolt Bridge Groundbreaking

After more than a decade of discussions, local officials gathered on July 20 to officially break ground on the Houbolt Bridge, part of the Houbolt Road extension, spanning the Des Plaines River and connecting I-80 to the Centerpoint Intermodal Center.

Will County honors 9-1-1 Telecommunicators

Calm, cool, collected. The 145 highly trained professionals who operate Will County’s 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone System (ETS) are always available to offer assistance to those in need. These everyday heroes are not the people who arrive on scene to render aid but they are responsible for answering 316,000 9-1-1 calls annually and ensuring the proper aid is directed to the correct location. Recently, the ETS honored telecommunicators for their outstanding service.

Will County moves to sixth most vaccinated county in the State

The Will County Executive and Will County Health Department (WCHD) today announced that in the past six weeks, Will County has tripled the number of fully vaccinated individuals from 7.10 percent on March 9 to 25.36 percent on April 23 – moving the county to the sixth most vaccinated county in Illinois, up from 90th in the same time period.
