Job SummaryThe Fitness Attendant supports the safe, clean, and welcoming operation of the VACWC Wellness & Fitness Center. This position assists veterans and eligible family members using the facility, monitors equipment and facility conditions, ensures compliance with wellness center policies, and promotes a positive and inclusive environment. The Fitness Attendant is not a personal trainer, but provides general guidance, support, and customer service to veterans accessing the fitness space.
Minimum QualificationsPrevious experience in fitness, recreation, wellness, customer service, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of military and veteran culture preferred. Veteran preference applies. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with veterans, staff, and the public. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism in sensitive situations. Basic computer proficiency, including email and scheduling systems. Ability to work independently and maintain a safe, clean, and organized fitness environment. Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment and supplies as needed. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time · CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe after hire. Must pass all required background checks and comply with VACWC policies and procedures
Salary Range$24,500 (Minimum Compensation) – $25,000 (Maximum Compensation) Under the Illinois Paid Leave For All Workers Act (PLAWA) one (1) hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked will be available after ninety (90) days of employment.
