Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant Will County Executive

I am honored to serve as your Will County Executive. As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

Please explore our website which is filled with important information about services and departments within the County Executive office as well as connections to other county officials’ websites.

Will County is diverse, vibrant and filled with hard-working people. We have room to grow and we look forward to a great future.

First Open House Public Meeting to be held on US Route 6 Improvement Study

Improvement study is a collaboration between Will County, IDOT, the City of Joliet, and the Village of Channahon

The Will County Division of Transportation (DOT) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be hosting the first public meeting on identifying improvements to US Route 6 between I-55 East Frontage Road to Terminal Court. The open house meeting will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Joliet Junior College.

The open house meeting is the first public meeting on the improvement project, which is in the preliminary engineering and environmental study phase. Residents can attend anytime during the meeting to view exhibits, watch an audio-visual presentation on the project, and discuss proposed improvements to team members. The meeting will be held in Rooms 1022 and 1024 of the Main Campus Auditorium at 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet.

The US Route 6 Study is a collaboration between Will County, IDOT, the City of Joliet, and the Village of Channahon aimed at easing congestion between I-55, Houbolt Road, and the surrounding area. The initial study will identify specific improvements along the high-traffic corridor, including reconstruction, widening, intersection modernization, and enhanced pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.

Residents who cannot attend the meeting can watch the presentation, review exhibits, and submit comments online at www.WillCountyUS6Study.com. Online or written comments can be submitted by January 5, 2026.
