Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant Will County Executive

I am honored to serve as your Will County Executive. As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

Please explore our website which is filled with important information about services and departments within the County Executive office as well as connections to other county officials’ websites.

Will County is diverse, vibrant and filled with hard-working people. We have room to grow and we look forward to a great future.

Will County and Lewis University Partner to Host Annual “Pumpkin Catapult” Event on Nov. 2

The Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division and Lewis University are partnering to hold their annual “Pumpkin Catapult” event from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, November 2. The event will take place in the parking lot just south of the main entrance to Lewis University, 1 University Parkway, Romeoville.

The event features the pumpkin catapult built by the Lewis University Physics Club, which will fling pumpkins and gourds into waste containers to be reused as compost at Christensen Farms in Peotone. The Will County Farm Bureau and University of Illinois Extension Office will also be on hand offering composting information.

In addition to launching pumpkins, the event will also provide document shredding services and electronics recycling collection to attendees. There is a limit of three bank boxes of paper per vehicle and two televisions per vehicle. No registration is required.

At last year’s event, 3,380 pounds of pumpkins were collected, 6,900 pounds of documents were shredded, and 4,299 pounds of electronics were collected.
