I am honored to serve as your Will County Executive. As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

Will County Officials Take Oaths of Office

Six countywide elected officials and six members of the Will County Board were sworn into office on December 2, 2024, beginning their new terms of office. 

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant was sworn in by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary K. O'Brien before a Reorganization Meeting of the Will County Board. Will County Clerk Annette Parker, Will County Coroner Laurie Summers, Will County Auditor Duffy Blackburn, and Will County Recorder of Deeds Karen Stukel were sworn into office at an inaugural ceremony during the meeting. Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow was sworn in separately at a special ceremony by Appellate Court Justice John C. Anderson, who then administered the oath of office to the 88 Assistant State's Attorney's who serve in the office. 

At the Reorganization Meeting, the Will County Board welcomed three new members, with Herbert Brooks (D-Joliet), Dawn Bullock (D-Plainfield), and Kelly Hickey (D-Naperville) being sworn into office. Julie Berkowicz (R-Naperville), Vince Logan (R-Joliet), and Denise Winfrey (D-Joliet), who were re-elected in the November General Election, were also sworn into office at the Dec. 2 meeting.

The Will County Board also elected new leadership at the meeting, with Joe VanDuyne (D-Wilmington) being elected Speaker of the Will County Board, Sherry Williams (D – Crest Hill) was elected Democratic Leader, and Jim Richmond (R - Mokena) was elected Republican Leader.

Joe VanDuyne has served on the County Board since 2018, representing District 1. He has served as the Chair of the Public Works & Transportation Committee and has served on the Executive and Capital Improvements Committee.

Sherry Williams has served on the County Board since 2022. She has served as the Vice Chair of the Ad Hoc Old Courthouse Committee and has served on the Executive, Public Works & Transportation, Public Health & Safety, and Ad Hoc Access will County Committee.

Jim Richmond has served on the County Board since 2022. He has served as the Chair of the Finance Committee and Vice Chair of the Public Works & Transportation Committee. He has also served on the Executive and Capital Improvements Committee.
