Will County Establishes Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) Program

In a continued effort to spur economic development, sustainability, and create jobs, Will County is establishing a C-PACE (Commercial-Property Assessed Clean Energy) program. C-PACE is a financing mechanism that offers low-cost, long-term funding to local businesses for energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, electric vehicle charging and other clean energy projects.

In front of a small gathering today outside of the Will County Office Building in Joliet, recently elected Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant was sworn into office by County Clerk Lauren Staley-Ferry. A lifelong resident and the first woman elected to the county-wide position, Bertino-Tarrant acknowledged the positive direction the county is headed while pointing to the immediate challenges of navigating the COVID-19 pandemic safely for residents and businesses.

Will County Executive Denise Winfrey gives an update to the members of the Joliet Kiwanis Club on Mon. Nov. 16 through video conferencing. She talked about the county's largest capital campaign in its history that culminated in the opening of the courthouse earlier this month. Winfrey also talked about the challenges of county government maintaining important services to its residents in the midst of a pandemic.

FDA Warns Consumers About Hand Sanitizer Packaged in Food and Drink Containers

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers about alcohol-based hand sanitizers that are being packaged in containers that may appear as food or drinks and may put consumers at risk of serious injury or death if ingested. The agency has discovered that some hand sanitizers are being packaged in beer cans, children’s food pouches, water bottles, juice bottles and vodka bottles. Additionally, the FDA has found hand sanitizers that contain food flavors, such as chocolate or raspberry.
