With summer’s heat upon us and as heat indexes top 90 and 100, the Will County Emergency Management Agency reminds residents to be cautious in the heat.

In observance of Independence Day, the Will County Office Building will be closed on Thursday, July 4. Normal business hours will resume on Friday, July 5.

Will County leads Illinois in job creation and continues to add residents while the state overall is losing population, business and civic leaders were told at an event Thursday.

The Workforce Center of Will County July schedule has been released.

An orientation to Alison.com will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11. Alison.com offers more than 1,000 free online courses in more than 300 categories. Orientation includes an overview of the courses and categories and information on how to set up an Alison account.

The July schedule for the Mobile Workforce Center of Will County adds a stop in Monee on Tuesdays, further expanding services in the eastern part of the county.  

Will County officials hosted a tour on May 30 for Congressman Bill Foster to showcase housing projects in several communities during the Our Homes, Our Voices National Housing Week of Action, May 30 – June 5. The Week of Action brings attention to the affordable housing crisis, the need for fair housing, and community reinvestments and partnerships.

The Workforce Center of Will County will hold its weekly job fair from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20 at its location 2400 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 100, Joliet, IL. A large number of area employers offering a variety of positions will be represented at this job fair.

The Workforce Center of Will County is hosting a job fair on Wednesday, June 19 to fill a number of non-nursing positions at Silver Cross Hospital’s main location and several of its satellite offices. Positions include environmental and nutrition services as well as all other non-nursing positions.

The Workforce Center of Will County announces an “After Hours” Job Fair to be held 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12 at its location 2400 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 100, Joliet, IL. A wide variety of positions with numerous employers will be part of this evening event.

An estimated 58,000 books changed hands during the Will County reuse-recycling event at Pilcher Park Nature Center May 31-June 2.
