During this year’s Hero Helps Community Summit, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) will be addressed by a panel discussion of local providers. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, MAT is an effective part of long term recovery when used with ongoing counseling and assistance in developing a healthy lifestyle.

The Workforce Center of Will County April schedule has been released.

Career Cafe will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays, April 2 and 16. Career Cafe is a networking event designed to connect people looking for work. In addition to sharing tips with other job seekers and learning job search techniques, participants will hear from guest speakers sharing their hiring expertise.

The April schedule for the Mobile Workforce Center of Will County has been released.

The mobile unit travels throughout Will County to help residents with resume development, cover letters and job applications. The workforce center contains 11 computer stations, internet access, and offers keyboarding lessons, as well as resume and job search assistance using online listings including jobs4people.org and Illinois workNet.

The Will County Board hosted United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Regional Director Doug O’Brien at its Committee of the Whole meeting Thursday, March 14. O’Brien provided an update about federal efforts in the opioid crisis and heard from several department heads about programs in the county.

State Senator Michael Hastings will host local experts for a discussion about mental illness, substance use, legislation and policy, and resources available in Will County.

To ensure all library staff members and anyone from the public has access to Narcan, the Fountaindale Public Library in Bolingbrook now keeps the lifesaving antidote in all four of its AEDs (automated external defibrillators). Most of the library staff have been trained to administer Narcan.

The 2019 Hero Helps Community Forum is slated for Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center in Romeoville, IL.

Officials from Will County announced today that the Heroin/Fentanyl Overdose Deaths Dashboard on the county’s website has been recognized by Esri, a global company dedicated to building the world’s most powerful mapping and spatial analytics software.

Area job seekers are invited to attend a weekly job fair from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Workforce Center of Will County.
