Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is reminding residents in need of rental, mortgage, or utility payments that financial assistance is still available for those impacted by economic hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This follows an announcement by the Illinois Housing Development Authority of a second application period for Illinois Rental Payment Program (ILRPP) funds opening on December 6th.

The Will County Health Department reminds residents to continue to observe COVID-19 safety protocols at upcoming family gatherings. Because of the availability of the vaccine and the growing number of people who are receiving the vaccine, many families are expected to resume traditional celebrations.

Starting Monday, August 2, the public, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, will be required to wear a mask or face covering upon entering any county building and during any time spent in county buildings.

While nearly half the population of Will County is fully vaccinated, local officials are cautioning residents to continue COVID-19 precautions as the number of Delta variant cases are increasing. These precautions include frequent hand washing, social distancing and wearing a mask in public places for those who are unvaccinated.

Will County to offer third round of Small Business Grants to local businesses that have not received previous CARES funding

Will County officials announced it will begin accepting applications for up to at $10,000 grant from local small business owners impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic through its Small Business Grant Program. Businesses in highly impacted industries, such as restaurants, bars or taverns, events or performing arts venues, museums, and fitness centers will be given preference.

The Will County Executive and Will County Health Department (WCHD) today announced that in the past six weeks, Will County has tripled the number of fully vaccinated individuals from 7.10 percent on March 9 to 25.36 percent on April 23 – moving the county to the sixth most vaccinated county in Illinois, up from 90th in the same time period.
