Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant Will County Executive

I am honored to serve as your Will County Executive. As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

Please explore our website which is filled with important information about services and departments within the County Executive office as well as connections to other county officials’ websites.

Will County is diverse, vibrant and filled with hard-working people. We have room to grow and we look forward to a great future.

EMA Hosts “The Science of Storms” Event to Help Families Prepare for Severe Weather

Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is hosting a free event aimed at helping local families get “storm-ready” and prepared for emergencies. “The Science of Storms: Are You Prepared?” will take place on Saturday, April 12 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center, 25055 W. Walnut Ln, Channahon.

“All Will County families are invited to this thrilling, family-friendly event to learn more about the wild world of weather and how to prepare for all situations,” said Will County EMA Director Allison Anderson. “After hosting a successful event in Plainfield aimed at adults, we’re proud to be hosting this fun, interactive event aimed at educating all ages.”

The event will feature Storm Science, an organization that brings customized weather programs to life in collaboration with Illinois Storm Chasers. They will feature interactive education aimed at young audiences, taking them through an exciting journey into the science of storms – how they form, why they happen, and what makes them so powerful. Experts will share storm footage, weather facts, hands-on demonstrations, and storm-chasing stories.

Will County EMA staff will also help families prepare for severe weather by helping participants build their very own emergency preparedness kit and reviewing what the most essential parts are in a proper kit.

This event is intended for all ages. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. To register and sign up for this free event, visit www.WillCountyEMA.org.
