Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant Will County Executive

I am honored to serve as your Will County Executive. As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

Please explore our website which is filled with important information about services and departments within the County Executive office as well as connections to other county officials’ websites.

Will County is diverse, vibrant and filled with hard-working people. We have room to grow and we look forward to a great future.

Sunny Hill to kick off bus drive with holiday bazaar

Time to replace facility’s 2004 bus

JOLIET – The Friends of Sunny Hill Inc. is kicking off its campaign for a new bus by bringing back an old favorite.

The volunteer organization will hold a holiday bazaar, bake sale and BBQ luncheon beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at the facility at 421 Doris Ave.

“It hasn’t been done in several years,” said Danette Krieger, Activity Director for the county-owned facility. “But the bus is starting to have frequent mechanical problems, and it’s time to replace it. This seems like a good way to kick off the fund drive for a replacement.”

The wheelchair-accessible, 18-seater is a 2004 with 65,000 miles. The Friends of Sunny Hill purchased it, as well as the one before it, for the nursing home. It is used to take residents to take residents to restaurants, shopping, Slammers games and other events in the community.

A replacement will cost $125,000.

The $5 BBQ lunch consists of a sandwich, chips, coleslaw and a slice of pie. Phone ahead for large orders to pick up at (815) 727-8710. Orders are already being taken.

Sunny Hill Nursing Home is led by Administrator Karen Sorbero and is under the office of Will County Executive Larry Walsh. For additional information about the facility, go to www.willcountyillinois.com or find it on Facebook.

The volunteer Friends of Sunny Hill raises money to purchase items that enhance residents’ lives.
