Will County Achieves Energy Efficiency Recognition from U.S. Department of Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has recognized Will County for achieving its energy savings goal as a partner in the national Better Buildings Challenge. County government has achieved energy savings of 23% due to coordinated efficiency efforts across its building portfolio.

Will County Approves Five-Year Transportation Improvement Program

The Will County Five-Year Transportation Improvement Program, providing a multi-year plan for countywide infrastructure investments, has been officially approved by the Will County Board.

The Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) presented the plan, which will provide over 20 miles of improved highways, 30 reconstructed intersections, and 10 rehabilitated or replaced structure. The $568.6 million investment in local infrastructure will be funded from a mix of federal, state, and local revenue.

Will County Executive Reminds Residents of Local Cooling Centers

With high temperatures throughout the region and an Excessive Heat Warning in place, Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and the Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) are reminding residents to utilize local cooling centers if necessary. There are cooling centers available in almost every community in the county, including in village halls, fire stations, libraries, or other public meeting sites. A full listing of known locations is available on the Will County EMA’s website at www.willcountyema.org.
