First Open House Public Meeting to be held on US Route 6 Improvement Study

The Will County Division of Transportation (DOT) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be hosting the first public meeting on identifying improvements to US Route 6 between I-55 East Frontage Road to Terminal Court. The open house meeting will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Joliet Junior College.

Community Meeting to be Held to Share Information on Southeast Joliet Sanitary District Water and Sewer Transfer

Two public outreach meetings will be held in November to share information about the transfer of water and sewer service from the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District (SEJSD) to the City of Joliet. The Will County Community Development Division is working with both the City and SEJSD to support the transition.

Will County to Host One-Day Textile Collection Event on Friday, October 24

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and the Will County Resource Recovery and Energy Division have announced a special, one-day fall Textiles Collection Event for shoes, clothes, and other textiles from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 24 at the County Office Building in Joliet (302 N. Chicago St.).

Will County Executive Issues Executive Order Responding to Federal Immigration Enforcement Activities

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant has issued an executive order that clarifies how county government will respond to increased federal immigration enforcement actions. The order creates restrictions on the use of county property for immigration enforcement staging areas, establishes guidelines for immigration enforcement actions on county property, and provides guidance on referring residents to legal resources and temporary visas available to crime victims.

Will County’s Resource Recovery & Energy Division has released its Fall 2025 Will County Green recycling and collection event schedule. The schedule includes collection events for electronics, household items, household hazardous waste, motor oil, scrap metal, and other items.
