Service Schedule Notice
The Veterans Assistance Commission provides a free shuttle service to transport Will County Veterans safely to and from the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. Our transit shuttle operates Monday through Thursday each week. Please note that transportation services are closed on Fridays.
We are proud to provide this critical service to ensure our local heroes have dependable access to their healthcare appointments. Because seating capacity is strictly limited, rides are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
To guarantee a seat, all passengers are highly encouraged to contact our logistics office and reserve their travel window as early as possible.
Shuttle Rules and Passenger Guidelines
To maintain safety, efficiency, and fairness for all traveling Veterans, passengers must adhere to the following operational policies:
- Advance Reservations Required: You must book your ride at least 24 to 48 hours before your scheduled medical appointment.
- Appointment Window Rules: Medical appointments at Hines VA Hospital must be scheduled between the hours of 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM.
- No Attendants or Spouses: Due to strict vehicle capacity limitations, seats are reserved exclusively for Veterans; spouses, caregivers, or guests cannot be accommodated.
- Independent Mobility Requirements: Passengers must be completely ambulatory and capable of entering, exiting, and riding in the vehicle without driver assistance.
- Strict Time Constraints: The shuttle leaves Hines VA Hospital to return to Will County exactly at 12:30 PM. All appointments must be finished before this departure time.
