Animal Care & Control Appreciation Week, celebrated April 12–18 this year, is an annual event that recognizes and promotes the important work of animal control officers and animal service professionals who dedicate countless hours to protecting both the public and animals. The week is sponsored by the National Animal Care & Control Association and aims to provide support and encouragement while recognizing the tireless contributions of animal control officers and staff across the country.

Workforce Center of Will County to Temporarily Close During Move

Employment-focused center moving to more centralized Will County location

The Workforce Center of Will County will be temporarily closed during their move to a new location, effective on Tuesday, February 24th and re-opening on Wednesday, March 4th. The multi-agency employment center is moving to 1300 Copperfield Avenue in Joliet, on the city’s east side, providing a more centralized and accessible location for residents across Will County.

Will County Celebrates 190 Years

Milestone coincides with a year of regional and national historic celebrations

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is kicking off a year-long celebration of Will County’s 190th Anniversary, which will include a partnership with the Will County Historic Preservation Commission to spotlight local historic sites and milestones under the theme “Celebrating 190 Years of Community.” The county was officially founded on January 12, 1836, when it was incorporated by the State of Illinois.

First Open House Public Meeting to be held on US Route 6 Improvement Study

Improvement study is a collaboration between Will County, IDOT, the City of Joliet, and the Village of Channahon

The Will County Division of Transportation (DOT) and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be hosting the first public meeting on identifying improvements to US Route 6 between I-55 East Frontage Road to Terminal Court. The open house meeting will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Joliet Junior College.

Community Meeting to be Held to Share Information on Southeast Joliet Sanitary District Water and Sewer Transfer

Two public outreach meetings will be held in November to share information about the transfer of water and sewer service from the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District (SEJSD) to the City of Joliet. The Will County Community Development Division is working with both the City and SEJSD to support the transition.
