Will County officials announced today a vital partnership with Joliet Township to support the Safe Passage initiative, a critical strategy to reduce the number of opioid overdose deaths in the county. The Safe Passage Program facilitates rapid entry into substance abuse treatment while also serving as a crime prevention strategy and deflects people addicted to drugs away from the criminal justice system.

The Workforce Center of Will County will offer a pair of orientations into Alison.com, an internet site offering courses to help people learn new skills or update ones they already have.

Will County residents who have their pets spayed or neutered at participating veterinary offices in February can receive a $40 county-sponsored discount.

The Workforce Center of Will County February schedule, which includes workshops offered by the Workforce Services Division of Will County, Illinois Department of Employment Security and Joliet Junior College, has been released.

A long ago accident led to a community event to help Ronald McDonald House charities and now to its new collector-in-chief winning the 2017 Will County America Recycles Day photo contest.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an often heard term but not everyone fully understands the value of the data it collects, analyzes, and interprets. The Will County GIS Division is charged with gathering, analyzing and storing data related to a multitude of county operations.  

     In a recent study, Where Workers Work, conducted by the Illinois Department of Employment Security, Will County led the state in the percentage of change in the total number of private sector, unemployment insurance-covered jobs, growing by more than 30 percent over the past seven years.

        The Will County Veterans Assistance Commission received a generous donation last Thursday from Cadence Premier Logistics and the Illinois Trucking Association. Two semi-trailers filled with water, diapers, cleaning supplies and other items were delivered to the Joliet Armory for distribution to veterans living in Will County.

        Area job seekers are invited to attend a weekly job fair at the Workforce Center of Will County from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10.

           Curt Paddock, director of the Will County Land Use Department since 2005, has announced he will retire at the end of the month.

         “Curt has led our land use department through many changes over the past 12 years,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “He has embraced new technology and best practices for land use management and has helped keep our county moving forward. I will be sad to see him go but wish him all the best as he retires and moves onto the next chapters of his life.”
