Surgeon General advocates for increased availability of Naloxone

Encourages more Americans to carry the life-saving, opioid overdose reversing antidote

The United States Surgeon General last Thursday issued a statement urging more Americans to carry naloxone, a lifesaving medication that can reverse the effects of an overdose.

In a press release, Surgeon General Jerome M. Adams acknowledged the dramatic increase of opioid overdose and the record number of people affected with substance use disorder, estimated at 2.1 million nationwide.

During the 2018 Hero Helps Community Summit, slated for 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center in Romeoville, Ill., training on the delivery of naloxone or Narcan will be available to the public.

Will County has been awarded the 2018 Engineering Excellence “Honor Award” and “Best in Category” for its Will County Community Friendly Freight Mobility Plan by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Illinois. The council described the county’s plan as innovative and collaborative.
