Community Meeting to be Held to Share Information on Southeast Joliet Sanitary District Water and Sewer Transfer
Two public outreach meetings will be held in November to share information about the transfer of water and sewer service from the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District (SEJSD) to the City of Joliet.
Two meetings will be held at St. John Church, 104 E. Zarley Blvd. in Joliet. The same information will be presented at both meetings. The first will be on Saturday, November 15 at 10:00 AM and the second on Tuesday, November 18 at 6:00 PM.
The meetings will include a summary of the transition history and the current status of the system, which has been impacted by several repair needs in recent years due to ageing infrastructure. The next steps of the transition will be discussed, including the latest information on next steps for residents.
The meetings follow an agreement between the SEJSD and the City of Joliet to transfer service on February 1, 2026 following a formal dissolution of the district. The Will County Community Development Division is working with both the City and SEJSD to support the transition. Division staff will also be sharing updates on the Sugar Run Creek Neighborhood Plan, which includes more comprehensive neighborhood infrastructure improvements.
