This new facility will serve more than 500 riders each day on a direct route to Chicago. “Will County continues to grow and our biggest asset is sound, dependable public transportation,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “When this route first began in 1987, Will County had a population of 350,000. Today our population is nearly 700,000 and we are anticipated to reach one million by the year 2040. These successful partnerships are important to keep our county moving forward.” The new Park ‘n Ride has parking spaces for 600 vehicles and is quickly reaching its capacity. Pace Bus Board of Directors Chairman Rick Kwasneski said the Bus On Shoulder service has increased 600 percent since it began in 2011. “Plainfield, Will County, and Pace have worked together to meet the changing needs of our region,” said Rick Kwasneski, chairman of the Pace Bus Board of Directors. “This new facility is an excellent addition to our Bus On Shoulder program which provides safe transportation to more than 4,000 commuters from the suburbs into Chicago each day.” Plainfield Mayor Mike Collins said the new location has room for expansion as ridership continues to grow. Kirk Dillard, chairman of the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Board, said one million people in the Chicagoland area use public transit every day. “It is imperative we continue to make investments in our public transit services,” Dillard said. “It is critical for employers to get the best employees and for these employees to get to their jobs. We are proud to be part of this growth in Will County.” For more information on the Bus On Shoulder program, visit the Pace Bus site: www.pacebus.com Previous Article Mobile Workforce Center to make seven weekly stops in August Next Article Workforce Center of Will County hosts job fair July 31 Print 4720 Documents to download Officials dedicate new Plainfield Park n Ride 7-24-19(.pdf, 165.71 KB) - 267 download(s)
